Midway Grill and Restaurant |
Tired and starving because of the seven (7) hours of butt-numbing trip to La Union (I went there with a friend who's attending some family business then), we decided to stop by San Fernando City and had our lunch there before we proceeded to our destination. We headed to Midway Grill and Restaurant, one of the restaurants I remember was mentioned and suggested in some blogsites.
Although it was almost lunch time then, the restaurant has a only few customers. Only 2 or 3 tables were occupied, if I remembered it right. When we came in, the staff welcomed us and offered the menu. I read before that baby back ribs is one of their bestsellers but since we seldom go for set meals, we didn't order it. Instead, we chose to have sizzling pulpog, sizzling jambalaya, fried rice, and midway salad; fresh fruit shake for our drinks.
sizzling pulpog |
sizzling jambalaya |
Sizzling Jambalaya - a combination of shrimps, chicken, sausage and mushrooms with green and red bell pepper. It's not an extraordinary dish but since I love seafoods, shrimps/prawns in particular, any dish with it is yummy for me. ;) It costs P189, pricey? Well, I guess so considering I'm in the province. I tend to think that prices of foods in the province are cheaper compared with the prices in the Metro.
midway salad |
Midway Salad (P149) - the ingredients are obvious in the photo above; it comes with a thousand island dressing (homemade, I think). My take? I'm a veggie person, I love vegetables but this one I don't like. Fresh onions are okay with me as long as it's minced, just like in the sizzling dishes above, but in salads especially when sliced that big, I don't like it. Actually, I don't like the combination of ingredients in this salad, maybe because of the ham (it has a raw taste in it), or the dressing, I don't know, I just don't like it. ;(
mango fruit shake |
Overall, though I like the sizzling dishes that we've tried, it's just the same as the other sizzling dishes I've tasted from other restaurants, nothing distinct or exceptional that would remind me of our experience here. But I'm not discouraging anyone, we all have different tastes; what's not exceptional for me might be for you, and vice versa. So if you happen to visit La Union, go and still try it for yourself. ☺

ReplyDeleteSiguro yung ham nga ang nakasira dun sa salad no?
ewan ko ba kung alin, ham, corn kernel, onion, dressing.., basta di ko sya nagustuhan.
DeleteYung Sizzling Pulpog (weird name!) looks yummy! Yung salad mukha namang masarap, at mukhang same same lang naman yun laman so I guess baka sa dressing nagkatalo, haha.
