Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church |
More than a month ago, my friend and I went for a road-cum-food trip to the home of kapeng barako, Batangas. We thought of visiting Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Lipa City as I told him about the miraculous events associated with the said church. We were also supposed to attend mass there but since we left Manila late in the morning, we missed the morning mass schedules. :(
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, also known as Our Lady of Mary Mediatrix of all Grace, is located along P. Torres St. in Lipa City, near the Lipa Cathedral. Built in 1946, a year after World War II, this church is said to be the home of the Carmelite sisters in Lipa City. It is also said that in this church, Mama Mary miraculously appeared and showed herself to a nun telling her that she is the "Mediatrix of all Grace"; hence the name of the church. Other occurrences were said to also happen here such as Mama Mary showing herself to children who were playing in the church's garden as well as the miraculous shower of rose petals in 1991. Having read from WowBatangas website a detailed account of the miraculous events associated with this Church reminded me of an instance in the early 90's when we went to Lipa to witness a said to be miraculous appearance of Mama Mary on top of a coconut tree. I was just a teenager then who went with my relatives, I can't remember much of the details. All I remember is that there were multitudes of people there and all were looking up at the coconut tree with some sort of light on top. I haven't seen her (Mama Mary's) image though.
Aside from the said visit, I also went here with my college friends before our graduation day, sort of thanksgiving and excursion at the same time. :)

As we were not able to attend mass here, we just offered a short prayer of thanksgiving and then took some photos and then head off to Basilica of Taal to attend mass there. Not quite familiar with the road network of Lipa though (we were just relying on my phone's map for directions), we almost got apprehended by a traffic officer. Luckily, my friend was able to talk him out of it and explained that we just came from Manila and didn't know the ins and outs of the city so he lets us go. Thank you Officer! :D And off we go to Taal to continue our road trip. I'll talk about our visit to Taal on my next post, so please do check in here again. :)
