Greetings from Norway: Land of the Midnight Sun

Midnight sun! Have you heard or read about it before here? Me? I first heard of the phrase from Gracie of Gracie's Network, a Filipina who is now working and living in the land of the midnight sun Norway. When I first read her tweet (or blog-post, am not sure) about the midnight sun, it got me curious so I immediately consulted my ever reliable and know-it-all friend Google and here's what I found:

Midnight sun is a natural phenomenon wherein some countries (Norway included) north of the Arctic Circle experience daylight all throughout the 24-hour period. That is, the sun never descends beneath the horizon and that one can see it even at midnight, especially during summer when the weather is fair. (source: wikipedia)

Amazing, isn't it? I tried to visualize myself in that situation actually, to be in a place where the sun is up all 24 hours of the day, to witness and experience the midnight sun. And just by thinking about it, I was in awe. What more if I would experience it personally!? Just thinking out loud here, someone might hear it and allow it to happen. *wink* Hahaha, I'm just day-dreaming, as another blogger always say, Libre Lang Mangarap! ;)

Okay, enough of this day-dreaming, I just want to thank the two bloggers who let me see, through photos and posts, the beauty of the land of the midnight sun. Thank you Gracie of Gracie's Network and ate Joy of Joy's Notepad. A big thanks too, to ate Joy for sending me a greeting card; it's nice knowing you and your escapades in Norway too. You and Gracie have shown me (us) a place way different from ours here in the Philippines; a place where there is white christmas, a place where the sun never sets, a place that has become your home away from home. Thanks to you both, keep on blogging and inspiring us with your posts.

I also want to thank the following bloggers who sent/posted pic greets last Christmas/new year:

Leah of Travel Quest
Pao Kun of To infinity and beyond: Pangkalawakan
Arline of The Pink Line

I saw another pic greet from Lala of Captured Realities; unfortunately, I couldn't remember where I saw it. Anyway, thanks Lala and thank you all for the greetings. May this 2013 brings us all many happy memories to cherish. God bless everyone. Happy 2013!

(now I know) Dito naman sa US particularly up North from spring to summer mahaba ang daylight. Siguro ung 9pm na mataas pa rin ang araw (kaloka nga) Thanks Tal for including my Christmas tree :) Advance Merry Christmas he he!

  17. Tama, I mentioned it on twitter while I was in Lofoten, Norway that time nung nagbakasyon kami nung summer.

It is only during summer where you can experience 24 hours daylight in Northern part of Norway. I was able to witness during the St. Hans aften that the sun didn't set, it was just passing through the sea horizons going to other direction.

In the place where I live right now, the sun sets at 10 PM during summer.

I miss Lofoten, it's a bit pricey to travel there but the experience is a chance of a lifetime! I hope one day I could go back there and you might come with me! Have a nice day.
